“As our leaders developed what we lovingly refer to as ‘The Evergreen Way’ we have expanded our understanding of what is true, complete care for our patients.”

– Mary Beth Menagh, ICU RN

Our providers, caregivers, and staff are committed to living through our values of spreading compassion during times of uncertainty. We are honored to learn of the impact our work has on each patient we serve. In the wake of COVID-19, COMPASSION was in the forefront of our minds. With new guidelines in place, EvergreenHealth’s ICU was faced with a difficult task—how to ensure loved ones and family members could connect with quarantined patients without risking exposure or community spread.

On March 21, 2020 we entered into a partnership with a HIPAA compliant, secure video conferencing platform. This technology makes it possible for our COVID-19 patients and caregivers to meet with family members who are not able to visit. These 30-minute by-appointment sessions are held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

iPads greatly improve a patient’s experience while visiting the ICU on bedrest. It provides an opportunity for communication with loved ones and entertainment which can greatly improve overall mental health in patients. Here we have a COVID-19 patient in our ICU video chatting with family while in isolation.

It is with COMPASSION at the center of EvergreenHealth’s mission that we ask you to take action in supporting innovative technologies within the ICU. With the goal of increasing patient care, our providers have identified key technologies to improve the comfort of our patients including iPads to provide entertainment and a means of communication between patients and their families during their stay. With a $500 donation we can purchase an iPad for patient rooms to stave away delirium while on bedrest and provide platforms for communicating with loved ones.
